ND Ilirija 1911 v Nafta

Match Date: December 29, 2018 | Daniel Beaver

On a trip to Ljubljana I checked the local teams, and it just so happened ND Ilirija 1911 were at home the weekend I was there. They play in Slovenia’s second division the 2. Slovenska Nogometna Liga or simply 2. SNL.

The stadium was about 4km from the centre, and it was a bit of hassle to get there, the bus system wasn’t the most straight forward. However, the Slovenian people are very friendly, and helped us on our way there.

We arrived at the Ilirija Sports Park and there only seemed to be one turnstile, and this was unmanned, so like the locals were doing we walked in! There was a modest stand on our side of the ground, with a smaller stand on the opposite side. We could’t get a beer anywhere so went and got one from the local bar in a plastic cup.

Kick off! The pitch wasn’t the best if honest, however it turned out to be an enjoyable game, played at a decent standard, a last minute penalty made it 2-0 and all over. All in all a good day out, and lovely walk through the park back to Ljubljana centre.

Date: 11.11.2018
Score: 2 – 0
Attendance: 150

Rot-Weiß Bad Tölz vs SV Bad Tölz

April 22, 2019 | Stephen Pryke

On a sunny Easter Monday we ventured down to Bad Tölz about an hour to the south of Munich on the fantastic Bob train. Although it was a Kreisliga A game (10th tier), the thrill of an action-packed Bad Tölz derby lured us down. The ground is situated by the river Isar which …

SV Pullach v TSV Schwaben Augsburg

October 13, 2018 | Daniel Beaver

A trip to Pullach, famous for being the old home of the BND (German secret service) amongst other things for a Bayernliga Süd game. We got the local suburban train to Pullach, an affluent village just outside of Munich. A very short walk on a very sunny day took us to the SV …

Zbrojovka Brno vs Varnsdorf

September 30, 2018 | Daniel Beaver

IndieLiga goes and Czechs out some second division football in Brno. On a trip to Brno in Czechia, we decided to go and watch the local team, Zbrojovka Brno, who were relegated from the Czech top flight last year. On a lovely sunny day we got the bus from Brno centre to the …
